Red Light Therapy: Deeper Than Just Skin
Most people think red light is just for skin…but there's a lot more to it. Here’s why red light and infrared light therapies are becoming more popular for whole-body health:
• Support Eye Health
Red light therapy helps to protect the retina, reduce eye strain, and help maintain healthy vision with age, especially if screens are part of your life (basically... all of us).
• Improve Blood Sugar Control
Red and near-infrared (NIR) light enhance mitochondrial function. Research shows that sitting in front of red light therapy for 10 minutes after eating can lead to an immediate reduction in post-meal blood glucose levels, helping your body process sugar more efficiently.
• Calm Inflammation, Without NSAIDs
Red and NIR light therapy has been shown to reduce inflammation and pain as effectively as common NSAIDs — by naturally supporting your body’s own anti-inflammatory processes. It delivers powerful relief without the need for medications. We hear that a lot... but often, the tests being run aren't the right ones. Instead, most primary care providers or OBs use faster, lower-cost versions of hormone tests that aren’t as sensitive or specific.
Microplastics Are Sneaking Into Your Everyday Life...
Microplastics aren’t just an ocean problem — they’re showing up in places that directly impact our health. Being aware of where exposure comes from helps us make informed choices to protect our bodies (and our families).
• In everyday foods:
Produce, seafood, salt, meat, packaged snacks — if it’s been wrapped, processed, shipped, or farmed, microplastics are more likely than not to be present.
• Your water:
Bottled, tap, sparkling, most sources contain microplastics... and yes, even if they come in glass bottles (who knew?). Opt for a reverse osmosis water filter to produce purified water at home and decrease exposure.
• Sperm:
Microplastics have now been detected in sperm, with early research showing potential impacts on motility and fertility. This isn’t just an environmental issue — it’s a future-generation fertility issue.
• Children’s over-the-counter medications:
Many syrups, chewables, and gummies are packaged in plastics that can leach microplastics into the product. It’s one more reason to choose higher-quality, cleaner options when possible. We recommend the brand Genexa for everyday OTC drugs.
• Medical IV bags and tubing:
IV therapy has become increasingly popular — not just for medical use, but as a wellness trend. While occasional treatments are considered safe, frequent recreational IV drips can increase your exposure to microplastics. Research shows that hospital-grade plastics used in IV bags and tubing can shed microscopic particles directly into the bloodstream! (Yikes!)
Here's the real deal:
We're not talking about it to scare you, it’s about awareness. Exposure is a part of modern life, but supporting your detox pathways, gut, and liver can make a meaningful difference in how the body handles it.
If you aren't using the YUKA app that we have previously mentioned, we highly recommend you download it to help you reduce exposure to toxins in your everyday life.
