Pill Fatigue: For When You Need a Break

At some point in their health journey, many patients experience what I call pill fatigue, and it's completely valid.

What to know:
Not everyone is in the same phase, and your protocol should reflect that.

Phase one: Active treatment
You're addressing something: correcting deficiencies, healing the gut, balancing hormones, reversing metabolic dysfunction. In this phase, consistency matters. Skipping or rotating off your protocol can slow progress, so if this is where you are, stay diligent.

Phase two: Maintenance phase
You've done the work. Now the goal is preserving muscle, maintaining hormone balance, and supporting healthy aging for the long run. In this phase, sustainability is the new goal.

If you're in maintenance, it's okay to build in breaks.

You can:
• Take the weekends off
• Take one week off per month
• Take a month off every 6 months
•Alternate supplements on different days

A little time off in the grand scheme of things doesn't undo your progress. The benefit you've built doesn't disappear and giving yourself permission to rest from the routine can actually help you stay consistent long-term.

Not sure which phase you're in? That's a great conversation to have at your next appointment.

This Month's Peptide... Again

We're continuing the conversation on Retatrutide, because the research keeps getting more exciting. As a reminder, Retatrutide is a triple agonist, meaning it activates three receptors simultaneously: GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon. Most peptides in this space target one or two. This one targets all three.

And just this month, two major trials presented at the American Diabetes Association meeting showed something remarkable for cardiovascular health:
• Triglycerides down by up to 41%
• LDL (bad cholesterol) down by ~20%
• Systolic blood pressure down by 12–14 mmHg
(Double what most blood pressure medications achieve)

The key takeaway:
These aren't just side effects of weight loss. Retatrutide is working directly on the pathways that drive heart disease. This research is relevant to you if you have:
• High triglycerides or cholesterol
• Elevated blood pressure
• A family history of heart disease

Other support worth considering alongside this peptide:
• High dose fish oil
• High dose vitamin B5
• Ubiquinol (CoQ10)
• Berberine complex

Essential Labs: If You're on Peptides, Read This

We're all (still) excited about peptides, and the research continues to be incredibly promising. But they are still therapies that deserve proper monitoring.

These are the markers I recommend assessing every 3–6 months while on most peptide protocols:

• CBC — Blood count
• CMP — Liver and kidney function
• Blood sugar — Fasting glucose, insulin, and HbA1c (Can run too low as well)
• ApoB — Cardiovascular marker
• hs-CRP — InflammationI
• GF-1 — Especially relevant for growth hormone secret
• Amylase/Lipase — Especially important on GLP family peptides

Note: If you've been on peptides for the past 3 months and haven't had your labs reassessed, please reach out to Dr. Uppal. If you are being managed by another provider, I encourage you to discuss monitoring these markers with them as well. Safe and effective treatment starts with proper follow-up.
